We Got A Wii!!!!

Nintendo Wii ConsoleWell, actually we’ve had it for a little over a week now, but Collin just opened it this weekend, because it was from Grandma and Grandpa Johnson, and we just went up to celebrate Christmas with them this weekend.

We got so incredibly lucky to find an actual real-live Wii.  We’ve seen hundreds of empty Wii boxes on display, but we were beginning to think these things were mythical because we’d never actually seen one.  We were in Florida over the holidays visiting with my family, and had pretty much given up trying to find a Wii.  I had been calling our local EB Games here in Marion every day in December, asking “Do you have any Wiis?”  It was the same guy every morning – he probably got sick of answering that question.  And then the one day that he said they had them, I was out of luck as a line had already formed and I wasn’t there in time.

So, it was four days after Chrsitmas, and we were out shopping with Grandma Lehrian to do the usual after-Christmas returns, etc…  Collin was at the beach with Grandpa.  Renee then decided that we needed to try to find Collin another new GameBoy game, since we couldn’t find a Wii.  So we went to Target to try to find a certain game (“Crash Bang Boom” or somethng like that).  The kid there said that they didn’t have it, and he wasn’t sure it had even been released yet, but if anyone had it, it would be GameStop.  Well, GameStop was just down the road, so Grandma said that we could stop there real quick and see.

Renee went in (without her wallet even) to ask about the Crash game.  As soon as she walked in the store, one of the clerks behind the counter was unpacking a shipment that had just come in.  You guessed it, 3 Wiis!  Renee then asked “Are those Wiis?”  (duh)  and “Can I buy one?”  (duh).  She then announced that she needed to go get her wallet and they said, “One of them’s yours.”  She came bolting out of the store and told us that they just got Wiis.  Grandma had been looking for one to get our nephews as well, so she went flying in and announced to the whole store “I’m second in line for the Wii!”  I didn’t witness that, but I can imagine her running in with her index finger pointed in the air announcing that.  There was only one other guy in the store (and a couple kids), and they didn’t want one.  So, we purchased 2/3 of their inventory right there as they unpacked them.

We couldn’t believe our incredible luck.  That we were able to buy not just one, but TWO Wiis at 2:00 in the afternoon at a store that we weren’t even going to stop at in the first place.  And who says God doesn’t look after the little things in life?

Anyway, playing it is a blast!  I highly recommend one to anyone considering a new gaming system.  Now I just need to make sure my wrist strap is securely fastened when I play…
