Collin’s team won second place in the tournament today! They won their first game this morning 11-9. We had to hold the other team in the bottom of the 5th inning, and one of our girls made a great catch in left field on a very well hit ball to preserve the win. Then, we had to turn around and play the Championship Game right away in the 90 degree heat. I think our kids got pretty tired, and we lost the game pretty bad, but they all were excited because we had a little ceremony afterwards, and our kids got silver medals for being runners-up. It was worth losing about 5 pounds of sweat this morning in the heat to see that.
I know I’ve talked about how proud I am of all the kids on the team many times on this blog before, but I can’t believe how well they all came together at the end of this season and played well as a team. Everyone contributed with good hitting and good fielding. About half way through the season, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to coach again out there next year, but now I’m kinda sad the season is over and can’t wait to coach back out there again. It’s been one of the most rewarding things I think I’ve ever done.
So, YEAH! for Collin’s team! We’re having a pizza party next week to celebrate.
